have you ever met someone who never seems to be excited about life? not the ones who have a rough day here and there, because let’s face it, we all have those. but the ones who are too afraid to show their enthusiasm? I’ve recently been reminded by the ever wise Sophie to do just the opposite. to be daring and brave, excited and loving about the things we love.
Sophie’s got this funny thing she does when we’re on walks – she actively communicates how excited (or not) she is about us going a certain direction on our walk. for example, if we walk away from the house towards the park, she marches forward, almost pulling me onward. but if we circle quickly around the block and she sees that we’re headed home, she slows to a crawl and refuses to move quickly. she’s showing her enthusiasm for specific things so that I am encouraged to do more of the things she likes! talk about a life lesson.
so when you’ve got a task on your plate at work that makes you feel all jittery or at the very least, engaged, show your enthusiasm. communicate how excited you are to your boss and your colleagues. make it known that you like that type of work, and if you’re lucky, you just might get more of it.
