Today I did something I was afraid to do: I fasted for a day. Well, at least a full work day, but not a full 24 hours. Still, it was a huge leap for me, the snack eating, make-sure-not-to-skip-a-meal woman. The fundraiser, sponsored by Google, is a fundraising event for the non profit, Action Against Hunger (ACF International). AAH focuses on providing safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger and a lack of food.
In 2011, the AAH saved 51,000 lives in Africa and the Middle East. That’s a huge number and its amazing to think that just going without food for one work day can help save more lives. How is it not worth it?!
Afraid? All the more reason to do something to not only challenge yourself, but help others – the most powerful motivator in accomplishing something seemingly impossible.
