despite what I thought when I was a pre-teen, the world is much more chaotic and demanding now than it was when I was a budding, moody teenager. with all of life’s demands and responsibilities, it’s hard to find the time to decompress and recharge. in fact, I have a very hard time identifying when the pressure is too much, often times cracking under it all before I have time to fix it (especially with these pregnancy hormones!). but I’ve learned something from sophie that’s really resonated with me – be on the lookout for quiet space.
quiet space is defined as whatever it is that helps you settle down. it might be a walk along the water, zoning out to reality tv, or attending a regular yoga class. really, it doesn’t matter what it is, it’s only important that you find it and use it regularly. the more of an effort you make to seek out quiet space, the better off you’ll be. sophie seems to do this constantly and it greatly improves her well-being, so I’m going to join her and look for a little more peace in my life.
